agit8
« on: June 11, 2013, 12:29:47 PM »
The One Campaign's agit8 web site is now live, and while there is no new U2 content, there are a couple of U2 tracks in their extensive list of protest songs, including "Pride" performed by Chris Daugherty and Michael W. Smith, and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" performed by Cali and Steve Nieve.

whoever designed and built that site should start again.  half the songs won't work.  a bunch are links to random youtube videos. (Sun City for instance)  it appears they've removed the Chris Daugherty / Michael W. Smith song altogether.  now it's someone called Rea Garvey doing "Pride" but I can't get that to work...at one spot there's just a bunch of blank place holders with images that say "test".

I'm not sure this was ready to go online...

Most of the new video content seems to be available there.  That doesn't include the randomly linked videos like the Beatles and Sun City...

They appear to still be uploading videos to the youtube site.  Every couple of hours I've refreshed and there's been additional content there...

Ha!  I couldn't get many of the videos to work, either, but I thought it might be my outdated browser.

Hey, isn't Rea Garvey the Bono-soundalike who did a song with INXS a couple years ago?  There was a huge buzz at the time that it was Bono himself doing the vocals.

The video of U2 doing Sunday Bloody Sunday is now live.  Think it just went up today.  It's available in high quality on youtube.  :)

The Rea Garvey version of "Pride" is up (again?) now.  Whole site is working much better today...

As for Rea Garvey - not sure of any INXS ties.  The guy who was working with them was Ciaran Gribbin, who was actually the guy who wrote and produced most of the original content used in "Killing Bono" (the movie) under the name Joe Echo.

I think when the INXS track first came out and people were guessing who it was Garvey's name may have been mentioned....

Still haven't seen "Pride" done by Daughtry.  Maybe that was an error, and it was actually Garvey?

Oh yeah!  Ciaran Gibbin.  But you're right, I think people were guessing it was Garvey before Gibbin was confirmed.  A small part of me actually wanted it to be Bono, even though I knew that wasn't the case.  :)

New SBS verse--

On another broken hill
Red crosses and crescent moon collide
Pilgrims pray to know God's will
Scratching in the dirt, standing up to die
Scorched earth or a cruel sun
Is this the battle Jesus won?

Same verse that was used at the Clinton Foundation gig

except there it was 'cueing up to die'

Despite trying several methods, I can't download the 1080p version. Anyone had any luck?

Cheers,

Shamelessly stolen from the One website, but here's some cover art. I extracted the audio from the video and trimmed the intro and outro a bit. It's 192 kbps AAC if you use the HD video.
