Musical "Influences" on Passengers Album
« on: August 09, 2005, 01:48:20 PM »
Aspects of One Minute Warning seem very similar to the instrumental portions of Japan's (a new romantic band 1978-1982) Transmission - the first track of their first album.

One of the standout riffs in Your Blue Room ~4:38 is similar Gavin Friday's Kitchen Sink Drama from his Shag Tobacco album ~4:07.

It's interesting, since this was a bit of a side project perhaps they were a bit more liberal in putting in some of their influences (I know Sylvian from Japan looked up to Eno and perhaps it was mutual after some of his later solo ambient work).

Actually after listening to things side by side - it's not as close as I originally thought... more like one made me think of the other.  Well I already wrote out the post so here goes posting....
