'Beautiful Day' Album???
« on: January 05, 2015, 03:13:54 AM »
I'm trying to figure out what the deal is with this release:

https://us.7digital.com/artist/u2/release/beautiful-day-4/

It appears to be just a reshuffling of the tracks from ATYCLB. Strange that it's showing up on legitimate download sites. The label is listed as Rapier Music, which I've never heard of.

Any info?

"Rapier Music" releases can be seen here:
http://www.emusic.com/browse/album/all/label:1145951/?sort=downloads

Interview CDs by the Smashing Pumpkin
A lot of 50s stuff that the copyright has likely run out on
A lot of "Music inspired by" Movies titles, like "Inspired by the X-Men" which has a bunch of tracks by no-name artists.

They don't look legit to handle U2 to me.  So it makes me wonder how this gets out there...it even made it to HMV in the UK, and Amazon in the US.  So it's incredibly well spread across digital platforms.

I find it hard to believe that there's a legal technicality that would make it possible for Amazon, 7digital, etc. to sell this. And yet there it is. Very mysterious!

But they apparently have a top notch graphic design department. They really pulled out all the stops on that cover art.

Yeah really though.  Averill and McGrath should be worried.  That's amazing work.
