Wide Awake In Europe Release Date

Hi all -

So u2.com is reporting Wide Awake in Europe is being released as part of Record Day on November 23rd.  They've also emailed their entire subscriber base saying that it will be out on Tuesday.

The problem with that?  Record Day is November 26th.  So either the EP is being released on the 23rd among the normal releases that week, or it's being released in support of Record Day on the 26th.  It can't be both.

I've spoken to two independent shops that said based on previous record days, they would receive the albums with their shipments for normal release, but they would be labeled "do not sell until November 26th".  Perhaps this is where some of the confusion is coming from.  Neither shop could say for sure, having not yet received their shipments.

Does anyone out there have plans to get the EP at their local shop.  If so what date have you been told?  The 23rd, or the 26th?

U2.com can't seem to get anything right. On the front page it says Moment of Surrender is live from Brussels instead of Paris.

They're album versions...no the edit or remixed versions.

The folks behind Record Store Day had to finally clarify this one:

"Hey U2 fans: The WIDE AWAKE IN EUROPE piece being created for indie record stores is VERY COOL, but please be clear that the release date is Friday, 11/26, not this Tuesday. Please pass on the info... thanks!"

Seems like U2.com has been printing the wrong date in the article, and mass mailed the wrong date out to all of their subscribers last night.  They've since fixed the date in the article at their website.  No sign of an email for all mentioning the new date.

Now to see how lucky I can be on Friday. I'm getting a whiff of desperation already. Oh yeah, the cover art alone is worth it!
