Achtung Baby 2003 rerelease

A post over on the atu2 forum brought my attention to the 2003 re-release of Achtung Baby.

This is a Japanese pressing, catalog number UICY-2434.

Was the album actually re-mastered and re-pressed, as the poster over at atu2 claims?  Shouldn't this have been HUGE news?  Was I living in a cave during that week, or what?

Should I also be able to hear marked difference between the tracks on AB and the tracks on The Best Of 1990-2000, as one of the comments in the thread suggests?

Anyway, I'd almost certainly try to purchase that 2003 rerelease if this is the case.

I am pretty sure that the Japanese have been getting remasters for some time.  But I could be wrong.  I just think that I remember something being said to that effect. As for remastered tracks on the BO90-00, I don't remember any difference in sound.

Check out the U2 page at idealcopy.com

They show several 2004 Japanese reissues of the back catalog, but not Achtung Baby.

The guys at that sight are pretty helpful at tracking things down for you, so you might try emailing them.
