At last, after having access to three different versions of "Snakecharmer" on CD, the final hold out comes to a digital format at last! But what's this talk of "which version"? Is there not only the one...?

From the "By Songs" section:
Studio Version (8:38) - Jah Wobble, Holger Czukay, The Edge
Snakecharmer EP (IMA-1) - Jah Wobble, Holger Czukay, The Edge
Snakecharmer EP (90151-1-B) - Jah Wobble, Holger Czukay, The Edge
King Britt: Inspirations Volume 1 - Various Artists (Vinyl Transfer)
Edit (3:47) - Jah Wobble, Holger Czukay, The Edge
Snakecharmer Promo Single - Jah Wobble, Holger Czukay, The Edge

That King Britt album is a CD, but it's nothing more than a vinyl transfer from the 12-inch onto a mixed CD.  So it has been on CD before...just not the greatest source.

Ah, the edit, yes. Well, for the amount this entire set is going to cost, if it does end up being the edit, it'll end up being a big "no thank you" from me and my wallet.

This purchase will be even harder because the song is substantially worse than the one Bono did with Simple Minds, but yes, provided it's not the edit, I'll drop all that coin for it, too, grumbling and grousing all the way.

This flac release does not contain the track. Only 63 of the 9392 announced tracks are on this download release.

http://shop.cherryred.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=5016
contains the track, but doesn't state the version. I'm not planning to buy anything any more from the cherryred store, since they don' t mention when items are not in stock. The have taken my payment more than once and suggested to buy sthg else in stead of delivering the ordered items or to pay back without discussion.

Hope this helps.

Yeah the digital versions aren't including the track with the Edge.  The box set seems to be listing it still.  I bought a copy through Amazon.ca - it's shipped but hasn't arrived yet.  It's going to have to wait till next week now as I'm off to Montreal.

Sigh.  Very sorry to post this.

Hold On Your Dreams is 9:21 in length on this release.  I haven't had a good listen side by side to see what makes up the extra 43 seconds from the EP, but there you have it...it's longer.  Will try to give a listen to the two side by side tonight...

Don't be sorry. I'm excited. Not in a "Ooh, this is a rare treasure from The Edge!" kind of way, because the song may be the cheesiest and most dated track of any with which U2 was associated, but in a "Ooh, something new U2-related to collect!" kind of way.  :D
