Next single - City of Blinding Lights?
« on: April 05, 2005, 09:38:21 PM »
cdjapan is listing COBL as the third (or fourth) single from HTDAAB with a release date of June 8.

I see two things wrong with this.  First, June 8 is a Wednesday, and as far as I know Japan releases CDs on Mondays.

Second, I thought the third single was supposed to be released in May to commemorate the 25th anniversay of 11 O'clock Tick Tock.

For what it's worth. I've got Monday, 16th May, down for the next (UK) release in my calendar. Don't remember where I got that from. COBL sounds a plausible option but I've got no info.

I'd heard about the 11 O'Clock thing myself - COBL is a logical choice as some of the verses are about naive youth in a big city.

Dunno about the Wed/Mon thing, that's something Aaron could tell you off the top of his head but it seems to ring true.

Just noticed that http://www.u2tour.de/news/ reported a few days ago that COBL will be the third single in Europe and is to appear 13th June. No news on B sides.

Addition: the site reported the same date for the release in Japan (8 June), with reference to U2Portugal.com.

In clarification, May 16th would have been the anniversary of their 11 O'Clock Tick Tock.  It was rumoured their third single would tie into that date (and COBL kind of fits the mood) and later COBL as the third single was floating around the rumor mill.

More tracklisting etc info on the main page now. Odd b-sides eh?

Does anyone know of a good place to order this single.? Amazon lists it at over $20.  That is a bit high for me.  I am looking for somewhere that isn't going to charge so much.

From someone else who did their research:

"I just saw HMV has all three single parts in one set for 6 pounds !!

The total is 8.11 pounds shipped to the US which converts to $14.89.

Perfect... thanks a million.  I had checked all the usual suspects and either couldn't find it, or it was a bit more than I wanted to pay.

I have never ordered from HMV, but that looks like a good bet.  Thanks again :)
