| Released to radio in August of 2001, this release of Walk
On had similar b-sides to the Stuck in a Moment
single released at the same time in Canada. In the spring of 2001
these two singles had been released in the opposite regions, Stuck
in a Moment in Europe and Australia, Walk On
in Canada. Those singles released in the spring contained different
b-sides.
Some notes about the songs contained on this release itself. This "Single
Version" of Walk On was also referred to as the Nigel Goodrich Mix during
the pre-release period. This version is very similar to the version
found on the America: A Tribute to Heroes compilation,
with the extended Hallelujah chorus at the end of the song. It is not the
same version as the edit found on the earlier Canadian single.
The version of Gone is listed on the single as being from the June 6,
2001 concert, but that is not the case. The song is actually a mix of both
the June 5 and June 6 Boston concerts. The ending of the song where Edge
throws his guitar is from the June 5th show.
A Japanese single was planned for this single featuring a combination
of the European b-sides. It seems that this single was withdrawn before
release and no copies have made it out. The planned catalog release number
for Japan was UICI-5000. Early news stories about this single's release
pointed towards a live version of "Walk On" from the Boston show being
included as well, but this version of the single never came to be. |
