Aaron J. Sams started this little project.
Was the start back in 1988 when he started it with pen and paper?
1995 when he made his first U2 page? 1996, when he first posted to
various groups that he was starting up an online discography? 2000
when u2wanderer was launched? It doesn't matter - because he now
looks back in suprise at how this all took off.
Aaron is a Chemical Engineer by training, and by daylight manages process
development for a marine plant manufacturing company in Eastern Canada.
He discovered U2 back in 1983 with the release of Under a Blood Red Sky,
and fell deep into collecting with 1987's The Joshua Tree. In his
collection are releases from around the world, and he tends to focus on
singles, collaborations and side projects. He's managed to catch
U2 live 29 times since 1997, and has loved every minute of it.
Aaron's main duties around U2 Wanderer are the day to day maintenance
of the page as co-webmaster, and he focuses on the discography section.
He also maintains the mailing list, and does a portion of the design.
In his time away from U2 Wanderer he focuses on other U2 related projects
on the web. He is co-webmaster at U2 FAQS, is part of the development
team at U2 Tours, and is a staff member at @U2. He also co-moderates
several mailing lists, including ReWired, CollectU2, U2-Talk, U2tour, and
ElevaSHN.
Of why he continues to work on the page, Aaron speaks of the joy of
interacting with those who visit the page, the opportunities that have
been opened by making friends from the visitors, and the joy that trying
to figure all this out brings.
Aaron can be contacted at wanderer @ u2wanderer.org (You'll have to
cut and paste without the spaces in your email client.)
