This chocolate bar was packaged with U2 graphics for the
release of "The Sweetest Thing" in the fall of 1998. The wrapper
of the bar featured the same image of Peter Rowan in a gas mask that would
feature on the single cover. The wrapper was labelled on three sides
"U2 Sweetest Thing". The bar itself is wrapped in gold foil.
You can see photos below of the bar unwrapped (not my own!)
On the back of the label is further text. The "Ingredients" are
listed as: Sweetest Thing (The Single Mix), Twilight (Live from Red Rocks),
An Cat Dubh (Live from Red Rocks), Out of Control (Live from Boston) and
Stories for Boys (Live from Boston). Also included are instructions,
"To be consumed on 19.10.98" and a note that the bar has been manufactured
by "Island Confectionary". The bar code on the back is a fake, listing
the UPC number "1980 1990 >".
The bar was produced in the UK. It was used for promotion throughout
Europe, although some copies made their way to the other side of the Atlantic.
These days this is a pricey piece of chocolate. |
