These dog tags were produced for promotion of the album The
Best of 1980 - 1990. An image of Peter Rowan wearing an army helmet
was chosen from the U2 archive for the cover of this album, and that set
the tone for the promotion of the album. Many of the items were war
themed. Other than these dogtags, there was also an army helmet promo
item, and a green khaki army style shirt.
The dogtags came in a set of two, one saying just "U2" and the other
listing "The Best of 1980 - 1990". Also included is a beaded chain
for wearing these tags. Some of these were packaged within a crate
with other promotional items.
These items were produced by Island Records in the UK, but were used
for promotion worldwide. |
