Breathe (Mandela Version)

18th of July on the banks of a not well known river
I started a journey to where I am now
Troubled soul, trouble maker
Guided by the drums of my creator
Toward a rhythm and rhyme, a melody line
Of a song called freedom, which once heard
Will never leave your head

We are people borne of sound
The songs are in our eyes
Gonna wear them like a crown
Whoa, yeah

Walk out into the street
Sing your heart out
This love it can't be beat
We're neither down or out
There's nothing you have that I need
While I can breathe
Breathe, while I can breathe

All those who stood together, fist in air now know this, that
Real division's not a scar on the land, but in the heart of every man
Who began as a kiss, not to resist
A knotted fist, now an open hand
An open face, an open page
Where history might rewrite its rage

And the life you get to live
Is the one you give away
To forget who to forgive
Is a good thing

Walk out into the street
Sing your heart out
This love will not be beat
Neither down or out
There's nothing you have that I need
While I can breathe
Breathe, not while I can breathe

Walk out into the street
Sing your heart out
This love will not be beat
Neither down or out
There's nothing you have that I need
While I can breathe
Breathe, not while I can breathe

Ro-la-la-ro-la...etc

Like the acoustic guitar, Bono's voice sounds in good shape...but still scratching my head about the use of Larry and Adam. The chorus part just sounds wrong. Their singing is ...um...strange, off pitch...
Some of Bono's lyrics are clever but less might be more as far as imagery. It sounds like the stream of consciousness Bongolese, (tho maybe somewhat cleaned up), we heard in those SBS rants---'your face, your grace, your can of mace, that you left at my place, I had to chace you down, on the ground, lost and found, you ain't nothing but a hound...dog'.

But it's written for a specific purpose so I wasn't expecting Love Is Blindness.  :)

I still think Bono's rap during Rockin' in the Free World if his greatest moment of flow ever. "He got the flaxen locks, he got the eyes of clocks, I wish him stay up on the boat until he kill the jocks," or something like that.  :o
