I purchased and listened to the remixes for I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight.  I acquired the Dirty South Club Mix from Masterbeat.com and then I acquired the Dirty South Full Mix from iTunes (US).  I can't tell the difference between these two mixes.  Has anybody been able to determine a difference?

Yeah, pretty sure the Dirty South Club Mix and Dirty South Full Mix are the same thing.

What is with the staggered releases of these singles?  Is there any reason to release the digital single in mid-August when the CD single isn't coming out until late September?  Wouldn't a single have a better chance of making an impact, if not actually hitting the charts, if everything was released at the same time?  I'm not just talking about U2, either.  It just seems like the record companies don't care any more.  The way albums and singles are promoted seems totally random and haphazard.

I really wonder whether U2 even make any money from releasing singles anymore. They certainly don't seem to care too much about chart positions with the gradual roll-outs of the last three singles, not to mention the partially aborted release of Magnificent.

It just seems like the record companies don't care any more.

One of the casualties of the record industry dying is quality. Peter Hook from New Order re-iterated this when they did re-issues last year. The releases were full of mis-prints and typos etc and Hook couldn't find someone who gave a shiite.

Not only were the New Order booklets full of typos, the actual CDs had tracks that were transferred (badly) from vinyl source recordings.  They sounded terrible.  Due to fan backlash, Rhino in the US recently re-released the New Order sets with better sound quality.  (I'm not sure how this went down... whether the albums were re-mastered again, or just the vinyl-sourced songs were replaced, or what.  But I'm sure you can get the full scoop at any New Order fan site worth its salt..)  I don't know if the typos were corrected, either.

Sorry for the slightly off topic rant.

For what it's worth (not much), Masterbeat now has the same three downloadable tracks as Amazon. They also still have the promo release, which included the Dirty South radio edit.

Has anyone bought the iTunes version of the single?  If so, what's in the "digital booklet" that comes with it?  I'm guessing more live photos...

I picked it up...It has detailed info on the remixes and pics from the animated video. It also has a cool pic of the 4 heads from the live video shot. It is 5 .pdf pages

Cool!

The same artwork is included in the "digital booklet" on iTunes.

Yeah, I saw that one first, then the above one, so I questioned the validity of the cartoon one. Couldn't read the UPC clear enough to search it. Then didn't care enough to bring it up.
