I ain't buying shit until it's been out for at least a couple of weeks...I'm still the proud owner of a $100 "Magnificent" 10-track CD-R promo drink coaster.  :'(

Hahaha! I once called an atrociously scratched CD a "magnetized coaster" when the Best Buy customer service rep wouldn't let me return it. He didn't really appreciate it.

Just an update:  There was a promo single served to radio on Friday afternoon for I'll Go Crazy.  The single released to radio was in mp3 format, and included the cover art seen in this thread.  Two tracks were sent out:

Dirty South Club Mix 7:10
Dirty South Radio Mix 4:26

No physical CD that I'm aware of yet in the USA, but I expect we'll see one in the next couple of days...

So does that mean this remix is going to be considered the single?  It's OK as far as dance remixes go, but it's a little too repetitive and cuts out too much of the original lyric for my taste. I can't see this playing on the usual U2 radio formats: AC, AAA, etc...

I seriously doubt that dance mix will be the single version.  I wouldn't be surprised if they try to repeat the formula for Magnificent... releasing an album edit followed by a billion dance mixes.  That's what gave Magnificent its only real chart action here in the US.

This site where the single is streaming says "more remixes to come" for U2:

The lesson here is that if you see mega "rare" Crazy Tonight promos start showing up on ebay, don't buy them.  At this point I truly wouldn't be surprised if they released a commercial Crazy Tonight single similar to the Magnificent Remixes.

For all who doubt about my debut post... YOU SUCK...

For the others, thanks...

Now for those who think a remix verison can't be a single... remember -> MOFO

It still seems like an odd play for a track where the album version already seems tailor made to be a single, but it's growing on me. It's interesting that the Radio Mix contains an additional verse compared to the longer mix.

I do agree with you about MOFO; I have the Popmart Mix Radio Edit in my "U2 Singles" playlist. THAT was a hard promo to track down.

Now, this forum is a nice quiet little corner of U2 fandom, so I think that we can disagree without resorting to name calling. I don't think anyone was doubting the existence of this promo release; just opining over whether this should be the commercial single.

Don't forget the 7 inch vinyl!!! Why else did we get that box??  :D

I'm hoping for at least a basic edit and something besides a remix as a B-side.

Agreed. I'm crazy (<-- pun not intended, but intentionally left in) for electronica, but they need to ease up. Releasing Winter as a B-side for something would make sense. I  suppose they're hesitant to give out much material that could appear on Songs of Ascent. ...which we're still waiting for more info about. ...which they'll magically release while touring, or a month or two later?

Rumour has it that they'll announce the 2010 tour this fall.  I'll bet if they can arrange it Songs of Ascent will be released to get the buzz level high for the tour announcement if at all possible.
