Well my first hearing included  "hatching some bra"  ...

I still hear "wanna be this thing"---
unless it's 'I wanna be this stink"   (lol)

Oh well...reaching burn out

Yeah,  you get to a point where you have to ignore what your ears tell you and go with common sense... :-\

FYI - atu2's http://www.atu2.com/lyrics/songinfo.src?SID=877

The lady sent me it
To hang your song in, lover
I wanna be the sea
You know, say you're alone

The last line is kind of interesting, but I don't hear the first two over what we've come up with. Though the verse before ending with:

Oh, no, you know
It's gonna be alone

Is interesting, never been totally happy with those lines. It still does sound more "ve" than "ne" at the end to me though.

During the official pre-release listening sessions the lyrics were handed out. These are showing up on forums. I'm wondering if some of these were not returned. Or else some people have astounding memories.  ::)

Hmmm. I'm sure Bono is proud of his writing, but maybe he realizes there is some "fuzziness" in the vocals as they come across in the context of the instrumental background. But part of this is also due to poor enunciation. On this track he doesn't seem to finish the ends of his words.

I'm going to wait for the CD single and vinyl to show up in my mailbox. I just got a shipping notice this morning.  ;)

The "released" lyrics show a totally different verse for the one in question. So either they're crap (like the official gone lyrics) or the album version has a different vocal take.  The pause/rewind section is also radically different.

I'm not posting them because cease and desist letters are a pain the ass.
