Bono/Edge/ B.B. King 2008-10-26 L.A.
« on: October 30, 2008, 11:52:51 PM »
Probably everyone has seen this already.
Not official though it might show up on a TV special in the future. And it's such fun to watch.
Bono was in excellent voice as was B. B.
Before the yeah-yeah part the band kicked into a faster version that B.B. does in his shows. At 83, he is touring a new album.
You can find this here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jngXtYLe8RY

Here's how B.B. does his own version (1992) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmWcLAhjUR8&feature=related
WDR television!!! Geil!! :o

When Love Comes To Town
Kodak Theater
Los Angeles, California
October 26, 2008

Bono, Edge with B.B. King and his band

[Bono=Normal; BB King=Italics; Together=Bold]

…enjoys maybe / Thank you very much
Royalty in the house / Oh, my God

Hey-yeah-yeah-yeah
Hey-yeah-yeah-yeah

I was a sailor, I was lost at sea
I was under the waves before love rescued me
I was a fighter I could turn on a thread
Now I stand accused of the things I’ve said

When love come to town I’m gonna jump that train
Love come to town I’m gonna take that flame
Maybe I was wrong to ever let you down
But I did what I did before love came to town

I used to make love under the red sunset
I was making promises I was soon to forget
Pale as the lace of a wedding gown
I left her standing before love came to town

B. B. King-King-King-King Dr. King had a dream
We knew that he could sing but his guitar could scream
As the music played, the world turned around
That was the day before love came to town

When love comes to town I’m gonna jump that train
When love comes to town I’m gonna catch that flame
Maybe I was wrong to ever let you down
But I did what I did before love…

Ok, so, 20 years ago, this very month, 1988
This song was put out into the world
20 years ago...4 very white boys…dare I say pink?
Attempted to play the blues…but we had a bodyguard
Played him the tune, laid it out
B. B. says, ‘They’re very heavy lyrics for one so young”
I meant it
Now, I’m not so young but, Edge is looking pretty darn good
Go on now
And I think, I hope, that those lyrics still sound heavy when they come out
Of the mouth of this volcano of a voice called, B. B. King
Take us to church in just a minute now

Are you ready?
Are you ready?
Let’s do it then

I was there when they crucified my Lord
I held the scabbard when the soldier threw his sword
I rolled the dice when they pierced his side

I’ve seen love conquer the great divide

When love comes to town I’m gonna jump that train
When love comes to town I’m gonna catch that flame
Maybe I was wrong to ever let you down
But I did what I did before love came to town

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Mmm, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah-yeah

I'm gonna jump that train
Love come down I’m gonna catch that flame
Love come to town I’m gonna make my self insane
And baby jump up baby jump up baby jump up baby

When love come to town I’m gonna jump that train
When love come to town I’m gonna catch that
… let you down
But I did what I did before love…

A Kodak moment

When love comes to town I’m gonna jump that train
When love comes to town I’m gonna catch that flame
Maybe I was wrong to ever let you down
But I did what I did before love came to town
