Red Rocks 5 new songs
« on: August 30, 2008, 10:08:07 PM »
Having just watched the trailer for the DVD I'm pretty stoked  ;)

Out Of Control
Red Rocks Amphitheater
Denver, Colorado
June 5, 1983

Barry Fey:  When Bob Dylan did it they called it Hard Rain and made a movie and that’s what you got right here. So you’re all a part of history.
Thanks for bearing with us, hold on, God bless you.
Ladies and gentlemen, a warm Red Rocks welcome, please
From Dublin, Ireland
U2!

Do you wait?
Here we go
Beat-em

Out of control

(?)
(Here we go)

Monday morning, eighteen years of dawning
I said how long / How long
I said how long / How long
It was one dull dawning, woke the world with bawling
I was so sad / So sad
They were so glad

I was of the feeling it was out of control / Out of control-oh-ho
You say, out of control / Oh-oh-oh
Um-ho-ho-ho
Um-ho-ho

Boys and girls
Go to school and girls
Well they make children
Not like this one

I was of the feeling it was out of control / Out of control-oh-ho
You say, out of control / Out of control-oh-ho
Um-ho-ho-ho
Um-ho-ho
Ah

Do you know who this is?
This is The Edge!

I was of the feeling it was out of control / Out of control-oh-ho
You say, out of control / Out of control-oh-ho
Um-ho-ho-ho
Um-ho-ho

Out of control?
You feel it?

I can’t stand up
You won’t sit down
I won’t give up
I won’t give up
It’s out of control
You feel it?
Take it up
Out of control
Oh out of control

I fought fate, there's blood at the garden gate
The man said childhood, it's in his childhood
One day I'll die, the choice will not be mine
Will it be too late, too late, you can't fight fate

I was of the feeling it was out of control / Out of control-oh-ho
You said, it’s under control / Out of control-oh-ho
Um-ho-ho-ho
Um-ho-ho

Thank you

Twilight
Red Rocks Amphitheater
Denver, Colorado
June 5, 1983

I look into his eyes
They're closed but I see something
A teacher told me why
I laugh when old men cry

My body grows and grows
It frightens me you know
The old man tried to walk me home
I thought he should have known

Twilight, darkened day
Twilight, lost my way
Twilight, running gray
Twilight, I lost my way

In the shadow / shadow / boy meets man
In the shadow / shadow / boy meets man
In the shadow / shadow / boy meets man
In the shadow / shadow / boy meets man
Ah
Man

Laughing
Laughing, shadows fall

I'm running in the rain
I saw a late night play
He’s all, he's everything
I'm soaking through the skin
Ah-ha

Twilight, darkened day
Twilight
Twilight, lift me up
Twilight, I lost my way
Can't find my way
I lost my way
Can't find your way

Twilight, give me up
Twilight
Twilight, lost my way
Twilight, I lost my way

In the shadow/ shadow / boy meets man
In the shadow/ shadow / boy meets man
In the shadow/ shadow / boy meets man
In the shadow/ shadow / boy meets man

Muh
Man
Oy

An Cat Dubh
Red Rocks Amphitheater
Denver, Colorado
June 5, 1983

This is The Black Cat
An Cat Dubh

Say goodnight
She waits for me to put out the light
When I'm still
She waits to break my will

Yo-oh-oh-ho-ho-yo-ho-ho / Oh-oh
Yo-ho-ho-ho-yo-ho-ho / Oh-oh
Yes and I know the truth about you / Oh-oh
She cat

And in the daylight
A blackbird makes a violent sight, uh, ow
When she is done
She sleeps beside the one

Yo-oh-oh-ho-ho-yo-ho-ho / Oh-oh
Yo-ho-ho-ho-yo-ho-ho / Oh-oh
Yes and I know the truth about you /Oh-oh
She cat

This is the bass player!
Guitar!

Yo-oh-oh-ho-ho-yo-ho-ho / Oh-oh
Yo-ho-ho-ho-yo-ho-ho  / Oh-oh
Yes, and I know the truth about you / Oh-oh
She cat

Beat-em

Rise up
Rise up
Rise up

Get up

When you're gone it's been too long
We've been waiting all day for this
We've been waiting
We've been waiting all day for you
For you

Into The Heart
Red Rocks Amphitheater
Denver, Colorado
June 5, 1983

Into the heart of a child
I can smile, I can go back
Into the heart of a child
I can smile, I can see my way

Into the heart
Into the heart of a child
I can go back
I can stay awhile

Into the heart
Into the heart of the child
Yea-hey-yea
Wo-ho
Into the heart

Tonight, wait for tonight

Thank you, very much

What?
What can I say, really?
What can I say?

Two Hearts Beat As One
Red Rocks Amphitheater
Denver, Colorado
June 5, 1983

I put the audience response in () to keep things clearer

A song called Two Hearts Beat as One
(Beep, boo)
Speed it up, beat it
Up

I don't know
I don't know which side I'm on
I don't know my right from left
Or my right from wrong

They said I'm a fool
They say I'm nothing
But if I'm a fool for you
Yeah, that's something

Two hearts beat as one / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
Two hearts beat as one / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
Two hearts

I can't stop to dance
Maybe, this is my last chance
Sing it, I can’t stop to dance
Maybe this is my last chance

Two hearts beat as one / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
Two hearts beat as one / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
Ha
Lawrence… Mullen…Junior …
Beat-em

Ooo

I don't know how to say
What's got to be said
I don't know if it's black or white
There's others see it red
I don't get the answers right
I'll leave that to you
Is this love out of fashion?
Or is it the time?
Are these words distraction
To words you wanna hear

Two hearts beat as one / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
Two hearts beat as one / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
I try to spit it out, try to explain / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
The way I feel, oh yeah / Hearts, hearts, hearts, hearts, beat as one
Two hearts, hearts
Beat it
Flag it
Beat it to death

Give it up
There’s no rain here
There’s no rain on my stage

***Let’s twist again, like we did last summer
Oh, let’s twist again, like we did last year
Do you remember the words?
I don’t
Will you sing with me?
Do you know these words?
Edge, shut up for a second

Let’s twist again
(Let’s twist again, like we did last summer)
Oh, let’s (twist again)
Like we did last year
Speed it up
Do you re (member when)
Course you, course you don’t remember the words
I don’t... ***

Ooo
You see, you see I can’t
I can’t…I can’t…

I can't stop to dance
Maybe this is my last chance
I said can't stop to dance
Maybe this is my last chance
I said can’t stop to dance
Maybe this is my last chance
I said can't stop to dance

(Bravo)

Wishful thinking Easter Egg. I guess we'll see in a few weeks.  :)

I Fall Down

Red Rocks Amphitheater
Denver, Colorado
June 5, 1983

This song… this song is about trying, trying and maybe failing, but at least trying. It’s called, I Fall Down.

Julie says
John I'm getting nowhere
I wrote this letter
Hope to get to some place soon

I wanna to get up, when I wake up
But when I get up
I fall down
I fall

Julie say something
Julie say you’re sorry
You’re gonna get better
You better not leave me now anyway

I’m gonna walk in the sun
And the wind and the rain
Gonna walk back again
But I fall down
I’m falling down
I fall down
When you fall down
Fall

Julie says, John
My heart is on my sleeve
I feel this feeling
I’ve got this faith
You know I can believe

I’m gonna get up
When I wake up
When I get up
I fall down
I’m falling down
I fall down
When you fall down
When I’m falling down
It’s when you’re falling down
When I’m falling down
I fall… down
I fall down

I fall down
I fall down
I fall down
I fall down
I fall down
I fall down
I (fall down)
I fall down
(I fall down)
(I fall down)
(I fall down)
(I fall down)
(I…I) fall down
I fall down

You pick me up

I edited 2 Hearts to indicate what was deleted from the DVD version.
Looks like they didn't want "Let's Twist Again" on film.

And I might as well delete I Fall Down since it seems it fell off the DVD.

I'll take bets that the complete audio, with I Fall Down, is the next U2.com signup bonus.

Bono’s Speech before Surrender

You know at first we wanted to make this film in the sunshine here at Red Rocks and then we realized that would be very wrong for this group.
This is what’s right for this group and this film, this film’s going all over the world as a record of tonight.
You wanna say hello to Japan? Say hello to Japan.

From an LP titled War, a song titled, Surrender
