Per the instructions of Carl, I'm posting the following transcript for the "Until the End of the World" Godley video, as featured on the Best of '90-'00 DVD, comprised of a live Zoo TV performance of the song.

---

News Anchor: Thank you, Rhona.  Amid rumors of stubborn stains, our fresh fruit contestants cut a third of the work force today, leaving voters in no doubt it’s the extra month on the tree gives your dog prolonged active life.  No other cold remedy stops pain faster in the remote townships with improved cornering stability, and the sheer luxury of better prostate health, with a delicious lowfat lasagna.  These are my son’s shorts, two endangered species keeping up with the latest dance trends, taste buds tingling with emergency relief efforts in the wake of previously unseen footage of Elvis.  Here’s David Saltz.

Correspondent: Thanks Rex, we’re back here on top, Zoo TV outside broadcast, one of the highest points in the arena, we’re watching the band as they rip into Until the End of the World, the title song from the Wim Wenders movie.

Haven’t seen you in quite awhile
I was down the hole just passing time
Last time we met was a low lit room
We were as close together as bride and groom
We ate the food, we drank the wine
Everybody having a good time
Except me, I’m still talking ‘bout the end of the world

I took the money, I spiked your drink
You miss too much these days if you stop to think
You led me on with those innocent eyes
You know I love the element of surprise
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You, you were acting like it’s the end of the world

Edge, ahhh

Love love love, love love, love love love
Love love love, love love, love love love
In my dream I was drowning my sorrows
My sorrows, they learned to swim
Surrounding me, going down on me
Spilling over the brim
Waves of regret, waves of joy
I reached out for the one I tried to destroy
You, you said you’d wait ‘til the end of the world
‘Til the end of the world, ohhh, come on

Documentary Narrator: Nature itself would be destroyed

Come on up
Come on up
Come on love
Come on love
She’s comin’ out

Come on love
Rrock and roll
Is this rock and roll
Is this rock and roll
Is this rock and roll
Is this rock and roll

Can anyone with the DVD give this a listen?  I can get to it in late December but not before then, as my Best of 90-00 disc is halfway around the pacific.

It's great to see people posting up transcriptions here. :)

They've got a transcript that's close to mine over at @u2.

Cool.

If there's a hard to hear part in a song, chances are it's up at @U2 as well as the Wanderer - the only other lyrics archive out there that comes close to ours that I know of (they don't do collaboration stuff but have pretty much all the full U2 songs).  I'm sure there's bits where I am wrong and bits where he is wrong.

I remember when Vertigo came out some he had two lines right I heard wrong, and I had a few details right that he heard wrong.  I try not to see what's he done as it seems a bit unethical to do, but if they list something on the frontpage why not. :)

Just listened.

Just before the lyrics start Bono says, "Oh yeah, Oh yeah yeah"

After "She's coming out" there's 2 verses of la-da's which no one seems to want to put in the lyrics, but occur in the Slane and Boston versions, during the fake bull fight part with Edge.

There's nothing else I would change. Nice job, Drosophilus.

Figured I'd post the transcription I did here, pretty much the same except the ending.

It differs from Ian's as well as Drosophilus's.
