Twilight (Single Mix)
« on: December 26, 2003, 04:50:39 AM »
the verse not in the album version:

Went up to the soldier man
With the marching guards and said
You are a single man
Who keeps out the riff-raff man
Who learned to make the soul?
Who let the bodies go?
Who saw the musical man
Who can cure this land

Why did you go searching them
We both keep noticing
Who last seen the man
Who keeps out the weak and damned
Who let him make it so
We let the bodies go
Who saw the musical fan
Who can bring this in

}:)~

P.S. All of the verses are not on the album version... the only thing similar is the chorus...

You know what I meant. ;)  THE verse.  Not just the yoda speak like " Direction have I none."  Some of the others fit the theme and strcuture of the real verses... not so the monster slurred verse from hell.  I really need to get a better source, a 128kbps mp3 (older one so a crap codec) and a not so great vinyl transfer in the first place hamper things.  I think my interpretation may have been clouded by Stranger in a Strange Land's lyrics.  I agree with two of yours (I always felt the riff raff was wrong) and added in reconcile.  So now:

Went up to the soldier man
With the marching guards and said
Who last seen the man
Who keeps out the weak and damned
Who learned to reconcile?
Who let the bodies go?
Who saw the musical man
Who can cure this land

"Yoda speak" }:D~

I don't know, maybe this should go in interpretations, but after I transcribed this, I got to thinking it was about a bouncer at a concert... but that's from my transcription anyways. }:)~

I guess we'll hash this out eventually... I'll give it another few listens (urgh... this song is such a trial to have to listen to!)

}:)~

Why don't you, you searching man
Who's marching up the stair
Who left a single man
Who decide what you can't have
Who learned to make his soul
Who let the bodies roll
Who saw the music of them
Who can cure this land

I think if you combine your your version with these lyrics, you would get the one closest to the true meaning.
