Another scalper e-mail
« on: April 12, 2005, 02:23:57 AM »
Got this one after getting back from LA1. Not too happy with the profession in general at that time. It's more than a bit childish, but whatever - thought it might be amusing to share.

We don't link to scalpers. We probably get more hits than you anyways.

I just accidentally stumbled across this post.
I'm a completely unrelated party.
I feel it necessary to point out that you are a complete and utter obsess ional, belligerent, narcassistic, elitist, dim-witted, pathetic human being.
You obviously have an unnatural fixation with a rightly acclaimed Irish band which has given you a megalomaniac superiority complex because you have some minor modicum of respect from fellow admirers of said rock group.
I felt strongly enough about viewing this unfair attack on a innocent party that I went through the process of registering on this site just to make my feelings known, you even published his name, what is wrong with you?  Have you no respect at all?  That is just pure mean.
Notice how none of the registered users made any comment on your post from this site, this is because no one cares about your self indulgent, self esteem building abuse.  Were you bullied at school?

Wow that's a pretty strong post in defense of scalping haha. The same last name is a coincidence then  as you're a "completely unrelated party" I suppose?  You just "stumbled" across the post by googling his name I bet. ;)

The name is a pretty common one, didn't really notice it being there and could understand someone being incensed at it being up (I'll edit that out now).  I'm curious about where "attack" though, unfair or otherwise, or was abusive? The snarky little aside about page views?  It was immature I'll grant, but more relevant than the loads unimaginative ad hominem attacks.

As hinted to the post was made after seeing scalpers in the GA line snagging up tickets to resell within minutes/hours as well as the general leg 1 ticket snafu.

The same surname is a co-incidence, I'm actually from a rival website who use the same affiliate scheme, hence my search for that URL online.
Respect to you for removing the name though.

Ah, well you can understand why I came to the conclusion I did.  I suppose it's admirable to stand up for rivals so much.  As for the name, don't know how much respect you'd give to a complete and utter obsess ional, belligerent, narcassistic, elitist, dim-witted, pathetic human being. :p

All very amusing, we're not even scalpers (had to look that term up), just run an affiliate site linking to one of the biggest ticket sales sites in the US, tryin' to make an honest buck.

All good though, great to provoke discussion :-)

Well we had been getting a bunch of scalper e-mails around that time - and they had infiltrated the fan club, used connections to snap up thousands when they went publicly on sale etc, so perhaps I judged too quickly.

I'd imagine most U2 fans would just go directly to ticketmaster, but I could see the use of a site like that in general, as a lot of the smaller venues in LA belong to independent ticketing services.

We generally don't link to non-U2 fansites anyways for better or worse.
