Zooropa (unreleased single mix)
« on: December 29, 2017, 12:27:30 PM »
Also from the same YouTube uploader as the outtakes from R&H, a supposed unreleased mix of Zooropa that I also have never heard:

I do have the version from the promo CD, and this is definitely not that.

That's cool! This is the same guy who was uploading stuff from Phil Joanou, right? Probably a legit unreleased mix. It makes me sad all over again that there's not an expanded deluxe edition of Zooropa out there.

I see Aaron knows of this guy and references him in another post.  Still, it sounds to me like possibly a different vocal and more reminiscent of the (abbreviated) 360 version.

Phil Joanou uploaded the Rattle and Hum stuff.  This guy just grabbed it from Vimeo, edited it and put it on YouTube. He did the same with some footage from U23D which also showed up on Vimeo.  And he again did the same with the Pop outtakes which Richie Smythe had uploaded to Vimeo.  So I'm guessing the Zooropa mix comes from somewhere else initially...

OK. Back a few years ago, a user called "MOTO" uploaded some Zooropa footage to Vimeo. The opening screen read "360 World Tour 2011 Tour Visuals" and the video was the tour visuals used on the 360 screens.  That's definitely where this came from. But the video that was uploaded was 1:21 in length.  So perhaps someone had a go of it, remixing it back with the original track? It's definitely the same audio.

Sadly the video was taken down recently: http://vimeo.com/31435137

The video on youtube uses the graphics from the Vimeo video. You can see them in the background (the Bono / Macphisto pic wasn't part of the original video.)

So again, it's just material that's been taken from elsewhere and uploaded on YouTube. And the reason it sounds like the 360 version is it is a studio mix of the 360 version.

I take it that you're saying that the first 1:21 comes from this now-deleted Vimeo video and suggesting that he took that 1:21 of audio and somehow edited/mixed it with the audio from the original and turned it into a 3:36 track.  If so, I'll at least say that it sounds more sophisticated than what I'd expect from a typical fan remix and not sure why this guy is motivated to pass his own stuff off as legit. remixes.

Regardless, still curious as to the provenance of that first 1:21 of vocals...

It's probably a studio recording done for the videographers to sync the visuals to.  Probably done when rehearsing for the tour.  The 1:21 wasn't continuous. There was a start piece, and an end piece so he'd have had to fill in the middle somehow. He's got a couple of his fan remixes of "You're the Best Thing" up on his account as well.

Watch this one for Magnificent:
https://vimeo.com/43476940 (the tour visuals come in around 1 minute in...) and you can see how they've synced up the music and the videos.  So the video creators are being given music to work with...
