Site Updates: December 2, 2004
« on: December 02, 2004, 09:05:16 AM »
Hi all.

Been a little lax on the updates here, but here's the next one.  Mostly I touch on the discography usually which is why they get posted here rather than in other sections.

Updates:
------------------------
Over the last month much of the updates around U2 Wanderer have centered around the launch of the new single and the new album.  That's about all we've managed to keep up with.

Vertigo Promotional Single

Vertigo Commercial Single

How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb Album

We're still looking for scans of international releases in many cases.  If you have something that doesn't appear in the discography and want to contribute just drop us a link.

We've also added entries for the "Digital Box Set" released through iTunes, including entries for the whole box, as well as the individual "Digital Albums".  You can get to these entries at http://www.u2wanderer.org/disco/album.html

As well the Silver section of the site, home of our new collectibles listings, is also being updated with new information about HTDAAB items including images of the really cool fridge magnets which contain lyrics from the album.  You can check this section out at http://www.u2wanderer.org/silver/

Digital Box Set:
------------------------
Maybe calling it "The Complete U2" was a mistake, but Apple released a "digital box set" through it's iTunes service.  We took a look at the 446 tracks, and came up with a list of what got missed, what got duplicated, and added a few of our thoughts on the release.  You can view the article here:

Welcome to Wes:
------------------------
You may have noticed a new member posting on the front page.  That is Wes Holland, who's been helping out for some time behind the scenes, and is just starting to play with some HTML programming on the site in the aforementioned "Silver" section.  He's making great leaps and bounds, and is quite looking forward to fleshing out the rest of that new section.  Hope everyone will join me in welcoming Wes aboard.  We'll have a staff profile up soon!

Lyrics Issue:
------------------------
On November 30, we recieved an email from Universal Publishing asking that our lyrics be removed from the site within 48 hours.  We have removed the lyrics as requested, and are currently investigating avenues to allow us to put these up again.  We hope to have more news on the return of the lyrics soon, so please keep an eye out on the main page for more information as we recieve it.  Needless to say we're hugely disappointed with having to remove this section of the pages, even if it may turn out to be a temporary situation.

Thank Yous:
------------------------
We're a bit behind in thanking contributors on our "Two Shots" pages.  Trust me, it is coming though.  But once again to everyone who has contributed - a big thank you from the entire staff at u2w.

Hey Aaron.

I see your mood has changed to cranky.  I can only assume this has something to do with the lyrics section being taken down.

Cheer up.  The Canadian iTunes Music Store is now open for business. ;)

lol.  you aren't far off on the mood change.

iTunes is open though, and selling the rare tracks individually.  Just got myself a copy of Live in Dublin '89 for $21 Canadian.  Whoo hoo.
