Finally got around to this...
« on: November 26, 2004, 04:15:35 AM »
Love Like Mad:

(I love you, oh baby) & (I love you) etc
[long robot sounding voices]

Some sweet delight, usher ????
And some gets us close too much

(......???)
(Get them in the outside tree, I am going M-A-D)
[weird chanting at the end]

Smile:

You are my abbot

Flower:

(All you know, you don't know yet)
[low talking in intro]

when you were about/bound to lie

@2:16 - whispering

@4:26 - (this the verse or the chorus?)

Xanax:

I go out on my bellies crawling
[that is what it sounds like...]

Thing is I worry all the time

ABOY:

(You sadden me, too mortal)
(Slow your tinman heart, tomorrow now)
(Know, I know yeah)
[muttering in solo part]

Native Son:

This isn't in my father's plans

I hear 'George was a street' too. There's IS a street called George's Street (or South Great George's Street) in Dublin.

Thanks for the suburn, and it's nice to know I'm not crazy thinking George is a street!

update - I just figured out your nick.  Interesting choice.

Love You Like Mad:
It sounds like "usher gerush" whatever that means...
For the "I am going NSD" part I think he's saying "I am going M-A-D"

Smile:
I hear "Sing it again, burn out blind"

Flower Child:
I'm agreeing on "George was a street"
Also think it is "when you were about to lie" and not "bound"
But I will go for "The sky was steel grey" instead of "still grey" - I can't figure out the "??? way" part

Bearing in mind that Itunes is not available in Denmark yet (or is it?), am I to interpret this as meaning you have got this from an illegal source?

I have yet to hear any of this stuff btw.

grrr, just lost a massive post. to sum up:

@kristian - I agree with M A D.  I thought "usher garoche" which doesn't make any sense either.  I agree with the smile change and steel grey... for about/bound i hear "abound" and have just decided to transcribe it as about. in flower child there is a light whisper @2:26, and someone in the background around 4:16 that is apparently asking "this the verse or the chorus?" hehe

@whssy - It is legal to copy files bought from iTunes onto 5 computers, so I don't think there is necessarily any illegality going on.  I'd rather not have piracy be a topic on the board.

In Flower child I think he's singing 'Appian way'. It's 'Via Appia' in Rome, but it's also a street in Dublin, off Leeson Street Upper.

@Carl: my nick... I also own eachman.com

Where is the first part you mentioned? I'm completely missing it.

The some sweet delight I agree with, even though it doesn't make any sense ("usher garoche") - maybe another language? Maybe a brand name?

The chanting at the end is longer than first apparent. I did a simple mixpaste/invert left channel over right and a little filtering to remove some bass and high treble and came up with this: http://s47.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=23SNGKDPOP36S1HE11VGVMQOGH

My translation:
B-O-N-O off the tree (three?)[/i]
I am broken, S-A-D
B-O-N-O on the tree
I am going M-A-D

Bear in mind the file I uploaded is hard to listen to, keep the volume down on the first go or your ears will ring!

Smile: Um, yeah, that's what it sounds like - Bono is weird, eh?

Intro speaking: http://s47.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1P0BDODALYW8P0WDVDP4D4G5PP

My translation:
Oh yeah, show me it, oh yeah

~2:16 whisper seems to be just "Hush" (reference to the bass perhaps, it cuts out right then)

~4:26 I agree with that! (Gee, don't you feel special now?) }:P~

Xanax:

Problem with 'bellies crawling' is the backing vocals coming in on that syllable, he's actually singing 'belly crawling' and the backing vocal is 'he's crawling'. Convert the file file to 96000 and adjust the sample rate to 88200 and you can hear it quite plainly. (Hehe, in other words, slow it down just a tad!) Alright, I made a file, here it is: http://s47.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2144FN71OBYC41KLBBCOBWYSXS

(The previous couplet ends the same way, except that both the main and backing vocals are the same: 'who's calling.')

May be "Feels I worry all the time"

ABOY:

You say I shout/shot government
But I kicked over to my buddy/party aunt's
[his friends who dress up in drag??]

(You sadden me, too mortal)
(Slow your tinman heart, tomorrow now)
(Know, I know yeah)
[muttering in solo part]

You say I should call for help
But I can't go-go to nobody else

Solo bit: http://s47.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=08BGED1CN0U2H2EGTHUDSA84CC

Who decided
To mold my
Slow-turning heart
To more now
Longer
And longer yeah

Love You Like Mad

What about?

You know that we're not crazy
Well maybe just a touch
Some sweet delight, (a shock, a rush)
And some kisses cost too much

and

B-O-N-O on the tree
Love you always , (it can't be)
B-O-N-O on the tree
I am going M-A-D

??

:)

re: love you like mad

re: Where is the first part you mentioned? I'm completely missing it.

You can hear it from 0:18-0:22, it repeats elsewhere with minor variation.  Again, it's a slow robot sounding voice.

Some sweet delight, (a shock, a rush)

Wow.

I'd given up on ever finding anything better than "usher garoche." Big thanks for pointing this out!!

I agree with goat's transcription for the ending, though it seems to me the first two lines may possibly be the same as the last two...

re: smile

Someone pointed out an alternate for abbot: "air but" which fits the "but I need the ground to kneel upon" after it.  I've changed that already.

re: flower child

I can hear "Hush" at 2:26 (sorry not 2:16).  I can hear either of our transcriptions for the intro, so I'll just keep mine until there are some opinions or a grand epiphany.

re: aboy

I'd already fixed the first bit, though I first it a bit different, didn't point it out in the forum though:

You say I should (go) for help.

As for the slow part I'll go over that a bit later. Want to take some more time with that.

re: xanax and wine

Yeah, those backing vocals make sense for belly.  I don't agree with the "Feels I worry all the time."

re: native son

I think mine is closer, I definately hear plants or plans as the last word.  It personally makes me think of some of the provisions in the patriot act, etc, vs. the founding conservative idealogy of limited government .

Back to Xanax and Wine, there's a few things I'd like to comment on (changes in bold):

Take a pill to stop it  <----

verse:
Wake me, I feel like I've been asleep   <----
I’m buying things I can't afford
I’m on a high diving board
Oh it's you that's keeping me dry   <------
Xanax and wine

same in:
Now I need you not to be
Wake me, I feel like I've been asleep   <-----
Try not to look so bored
You're buying things you can't afford
I've got yours and I know you want mine   <-----
Xanax and wine

verse:
Not used to talking to somebody in their body   <----
It's Somebody in a body, it's somebody in a body    <-----

Love this song...
