New Discography Site?

Was wondering when the new site is coming out? I'm very anxious and (I'm not gonna lie) impatient too! This is my source to find out what's out there so I can keep collecting!

I don't have that answer.  Right now we need to be patient and wait for Carl to find some time to finish the development work on the site.  The data entry and scanning is all at a point where we can launch.  We just need the rest of the templates for displaying the information to be worked out.

Some previews.  The first one is a modified front page.  Second is a look at the "By Songs" list showing the page for "F" - all up to date.  Third page is a look at the news page.  And the final is a look at one of the lyric entries.  (And looking at them now they aren't in order.  Whoops.  Sorry!)

Still lots to do, and the design is still being worked on.  But wanted to show a few things we've been working on.

Those are still rough and are highly compressed so it's only a quick peek into things.

Our 20th birthday is in a few months, so I'd love to have it ready to go for then.

20 years online. Been keeping a discography for 27 now. Hard to believe. :-)

And just a look at the directory I'm working with scanning items.  Currently the discography only has 5 images for "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" at 545 pixels wide.  The new site so far for that entry?  48 images, at 2048 pixels wide.  I am rescanning everything in my collection at a higher resolution.  We won't wait for everything to be scanned to launch, but so far we've got 1400 images done and ready to go for the singles section upon launch.

It almost launched in the Fall, but Carl had some computer issues which killed that window of opportunity.  We do this in our spare time, without any money coming in for the work we do on it. So it'll come when it comes.  We are working on it, and just trying to get to the finish line.

If someone wants to pay me contractor rates, it'll speed up.

Right now I'm in the middle of a 6-7 month full time contract doing UI design + front end prototyping for a number of web applications for UCLA. I generally want to spend my free time not doing more front end stuff - hike, rock climb, hang out with friends, read a book, etc. It could be that a few things are cleaned up and the site soft launches without some of the extra images/catalog entries, then those get added on later etc.

You're only human.  I think everybody will be waiting. The best news is that the site is still alive! So - no problem
