« on: August 10, 2014, 01:51:02 PM »
Daddy's gonna give you as much as you can take...I'm overjoyed to have just spotted this....

The Perfecto Remix of Daddy's Gonna Pay as it aired on BBC on November 6, 1993. - Oakenfold has been uploading old programs to Youtube, and I've been going through them, and just spotted this today - he uploaded it in February...

If that link doesn't take you direct to Daddy's Gonna Pay, try this link instead:

The full essential mix by Oakenfold also included the Perfecto Mix of Lemon.

Thanks!  8)

Aaron, thanks for taking the time to post links to the Perfecto Mixes of Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car and Ordinary Love.  I was unaware of their existence.  They don't do anything for me, but at least I have an opportunity to decide.  Thank you again.

He's also done a remix of "With Or Without You" on one of his podcasts.  Not sure if it was his or someone elses, but I'm working to dig up the link so people can hear.  I first heard it when I saw him live opening for Madonna a few years ago.

Of the Perfecto Mixes done with U2 tracks . . . . . the only one I love (and thus, the only one I have in my iTunes library) is Mysterious Ways [Perfecto Mix].  I have previously had access to any Perfecto Mixes that came with my iTunes U2 digital box set and any that are on my Melon Remixes physical CD.  I do not think I have heard the Perfecto Mix of With Or Without You.  I should probably do a little Internet research and determine the Perfecto Mixes I still have not heard.  I will start with YouTube.

Wow, that Daddy's Gonna Pay remix is actually pretty awesome. I thought I'd heard pretty much everything that could be done with U2 songs from this era in terms of remixing, but this is good.

I was SUPER stoked   ;D    when I found it online. I hadn't found the Perfecto mix of Ordinary Love yet, so thanks for that.

Since these are available from iTunes, an official music retailer, (via Paul Oakenfold's podcasts) are we considering these official remixes, or are they still 3rd-party?

Anyone can set up to upload a podcast to iTunes.  There were a couple of very unofficial remixes uploaded to iTunes in that way.  So just because it is in a podcast, doesn't mean I'd be listing it on the site in the future.

I do agree though that these deserve a home somewhere in the page listings, even if it is just a footnote in the listings.  Oakenfold's relationship with the band and wealth of content produced for the band, gives him a bit more of a step above a random third party remixer that drops a beat in behind a song...so I will find some way to fit them in.  A lot more consideration is being given to these types of things and where they might fit, as is streaming only content like full songs that have appeared at u2.com.

Makes sense. I'm glad to hear that you're preparing a home for these types of things on the site. If you don't hear it 100 times a day, Aaron, U2wanderer.org is the best. Definitely THE go-to source for U2 catalog info.

Anyone can remix a song and turn it into a podcast, but that doesn't make it legal from the record company perspective. But as Aaron noted, Paul Oakenfold isn't some teenage kid fumbling around in his basement. The fact that these are coming from Oakenfold makes me inclined to consider them "official." Or at least that he has permission from U2/Universal to release them...
