Roy Orbison/Mystery Girl (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
« on: March 20, 2014, 04:36:33 PM »
Following up on the reissue of Emmylou's "Wrecking Ball," here's another set with U2 involvement.

http://www.amazon.com/Mystery-Girl-Deluxe-Roy-Orbison/dp/tracks/B006T0V3WO/ref=dp_tracks_all_1?tag=vglnkc4192-20#disc_1

The first disc has a bunch of bonus tracks/demos, including "She's a Mystery To Me (Studio Demo with Bono)."  The bonus DVD may have some good U2 nuggets as well.

I hear about this on the way to work today. Great find. The most under-heralded song in the U2 catalogue.

I'm looking forward to this one. What an awesome album.

In reading the press release more closely, it looks like in addition to the Bono demo on disc one, there is also unseen interview footage with Bono on the DVD.  There are also alternate videos for "She's a Mystery to Me," so I guess it's possible Bono and Edge could turn up in one of those.  :)

Perhaps U2 is encouraging the release of all these archival "side projects" so that crazies like us will be distracted by the fact that there is no new album on the horizon.

Haha

The trailer contains footage of the Diamond Awards in Antwerp, Belgium, one of the last, if not the last performance of Roy, and the reason why i tried te get U2 to play "she's a mystery to me" in that venue, which they did in 2001, August 6th.
