I just noticed that the digital release of "Conspiracy of Hope" is an expanded set. 64 tracks in all including 6 U2 tracks and Bono with the Police on Invisible Sun. Wish I had seen this before I bought the CD set as an import. All four albums are now on iTunes.

Concerning the following:
¡RELEASED! 1986: A Conspiracy of Hope (Green Cover) contains:
"MLK/Pride", "Bad", "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "Maggies Farm", "Help!" and "Sun City"

Question 1:
I'm considering buying these tracks on iTunes, thanks to Brad's informative post above.  Putting aside the CD and DVD collector aspect, none of these performances are unique audio-wise, are they?

Question 2:
Isn't the only reason to be interested in them . . . . . is the fact that they of historical significance . . . . . . that Amnesty International is a just cause and these tracks were performed during these important concerts?

For example, the version of Bad . . . . . it's track time is only 5:46 on iTunes.  That's not the complete version of Bad as we know it, is it?

I just listened to the iTunes samples of Maggies Farm, Help! and Sun City and . . . . I have no interest in buying them.

So . . . . if anyone has an opinion on Question 1 and 2 above, I'd like to hear it.

The CD with the green cover has the following songs:
MLK - Pride
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Maggie's Farm
I Shall Be Released

It does not contain Bad, Help! Invisible Sun or Sun City.  Those are available through iTunes.

In both cases the songs are the same performances, and taken from the same concert.  So if you buy Maggie's Farm on CD, it's the same version you would buy through iTunes, with perhaps minor edits at the start and end of the material where things have been cut from the CD.

These are not studio tracks, they are as performed live, in concert back in 1986.  I love live material, and will take any that I can get.  I've had bootlegs of this material in the past, but much prefer a nice edited version from original tapes, rather than something made from a low end television broadcast.  I'm happy to have the full show.  Really happy they did release the entire thing through iTunes.

As for the length of "Bad" - they were staring the stage with a number of acts that day so perhaps were not able to turn it into a 10 minute sprawling song.  It sounds complete to me on disc.  I'd have to go back to the boots I have to see if anything was cut out of the performance.

As for whether or not you should buy - that's up to you.  Some here collect one version of every release, some are nuts enough to collect one version of every release from every country, some go one step further and collect every pressing from every country that has a release.  Doesn't matter how little or how much you collect, you'll be welcome here.  So buy what you get enjoyment from, and if you don't think these will add any enjoyment, skip them.  :)

Just got my DVD box set.    Some amazing stuff on it beyond the Giants Stadium tracks.  Bono appears in the film of the 1988 tour.  And there's a bonus track from the 1988 L.A. show with Bono on Chimes Of Freedom.  The two Electric Burma performances (One and Walk On).  Bono is all over the documentary Light A Candle - both historic and new interview.  Bruce Springsteen interview (about 20 mins) includes his rave about U2.

The quality of the iTunes release is very good.

I have had this for years as an FM broadcast, and recenty it was available at Wolfgang's Vault.

The sound quailty is much better now. Nice to have the complete show from iTunes, THX slaneman

The 5-CD set is tempting... Looks like it actually has 68 tracks total.  :P

I got the Japanese DVD as well now. The U2 material is the same, with the exception of optional Japanese subtitles (I can't tell if they are any good)....

It does have some additional tracks vs. the European release:
The Hooters - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Peter, Paul & Mary - No Easy Walk To Freedom
Little Steven & The Disciples Of Soul - Sanctuary
Joan Baez - Let It Be
These are the audio titles (from the Conspiracy of Hope full 68 tracks) missing on the European DVD. So the two Japanese releases (CD & DVD) both have the full track-listing for the 1986 concert.
