Van Diemen's Land (Cassette Version)
« on: June 04, 2005, 06:23:42 PM »
Hi,

According to The U2 Hidden Messages Site! (www.webbportalen.com/u2secrets2tell/rhdiemens.html) the CASSETTE version of Van Diemen's Land includes the unsung final verse:

Still the gunman rules and windows pay
A scarlet coat now a black beret
They thought that blood and sacrifice
Could out of death bring forth a life

Can anyone confirm this? I’d like confirmation before purchasing the cassette.

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tim,

I saw your posting only today, I am afraid. I've got Rattle & Hum on cassette (the one published in Germany, I think; I bought it second hand in Switzerland) and it has this verse on the sleeve, as you've printed it above (except for the spelling mistake in the first line for widows) but it's not sung...  So I guess the cassette includes it as unsung ;-)
