Discography & Releases / Re: Record Store Day 2019: The Europa EP.

The releases with exclusive material tends to sell better. The content on both Lights of Home and The Blackout is available elsewhere. A lot of shops were left with huge stocks of those two in particular and that caused a rethink, both in terms of the numbers some shops request and the level of effort that the band puts into releases.

The Blackout was also pressed at 4x the quantities of most of the RSD stuff.  There was a total of 20,000 copies done if you count the 750 in coloured vinyl.  It was the first physical release off the album and they wanted to make sure it was out there foranyone who wanted it.  Most of U2's releases  have been done at 5000 or 7000 copies.

General Site / Re: Twitter Widget
« Last post by Aaron on October 06, 2019, 07:49:06 PM »
Congrats everybody to the relaunch of the site. I think it looks great. There is just two things I'd like to be changed:

The forum link should be more visible - perhaps on the very top between Demos and About.

The Twitter widget should be placed more prominent because it shows the most current news. I frequently check the site for news, however, I hardly scroll down to the Twitter widget. Though I find the News Specials valuable content changes not very often. The last entry is dated March 2nd, while the last Twitter post was 5h ago.

Most of our traffic goes from Twitter to the site, not the other way around, so we've left the widget in there, but moved it to the bottom.  At one point we left it out completely.  It may someday get a bit more prominence.

The top menu has to be redone at some point. We can't have more items in there than is there now without causing some odd effects.  Something had to come out.  The News Special section is a work in progress. The idea is to eventually have a random selection of news content from our past archives to highlight.  But the randomization hasn't been working.  The demos section is supposed to do the same.  When I get a chance I'll look at it again...

Your topic should be in Lyrics. Just copy and paste as a new topic in Lyrics then you can delete this one in discography. Then I will delete my reply. I don't have admin power to do that myself.  :)

Is this topic was moved form Lyrics Transcriptions to Discography & Releases?  ::)  I thought it's about lyric of Holy Joe song not discography entries?

On his podcast yesterday Rusty played Red Flag Day (Paradise Remix) and Red Flag Day (Red Rocks Remix) to start off his broadcast but he said he wasn't able to get them OK'ed to be released on vol 2. Also played Summer of Love (Sunset Mix) which was also not official and didn't make vol 2.

I'm not a big remix fan usually but I liked all 3 of these. Maybe in the future the band will sanction them.
Thank you very much for the reply.  I've never even heard of Red Flag Day [Paradise Remix] or Red Flag Day [Red Rocks Remix].  Have they ever been mentioned here on the forum?

Concerning the Rusty podcast, I Googled it and one of the results is a website called bombshellradio.  On the webpage, I see a list of tracks and I see all 3 of those U2 remixes in the list.  How do I listen to that podcast?

Discography & Releases / Holy Joe (Guilty Mix)

Hi!
Small thing, but some time ago I noticed that at the very end of Holy Joe (Guilty Mix), both on Japan album bonus track and on Discothèque single, you can hear "Thank you", probably by someone from the studio when recording.  ;)  Small improvement to the "lyrics", but after so many years from release maybe there are more words hiding at the very end of songs.

Another thing I will ask is even smaller  ;D - the notation of verse "No, really I try", and precisely the comma, which is only on Garage Mix, when not present on Guilty Mix - as hear the both mixes it should be rather opposite. Bono do a little pause on Guilty Mix, when on Garage he sing it continuously or at least comma at both.  ::)
