Ever wonder how that cover for the US version of Boy came about? We were approached 10 years ago at u2wanderer.org to tell the story, but for some reason, things always prevented it from being told in full. We didn't give up though, and the story has finally been told:

Includes the story of the cover and how it was designed, an interview with the photographer involved in creating the images for the cover, and maybe my favorite part, we're able to show a few alternate alternate covers off in the article.
Hope you can take a moment to look. :)

Fantastic article, Aaron and Don! It inspired me to photoshop a high-quality version of the US cover art, if anyone is interested in using it for iTunes or whatever.

Also, looking at the other album cover Porter was working on at the time, I would guess it had some influence on his design for Boy.

That Boy cover looks great Brad! After working on this article I have come to appreciate it even more. It's amazing what could be accomplished in the days before computer design. And nice find on the John Martyn cover. I never even thought to look it up.
