According to a store listing, U2’s recent full length album, Songs of Innocence, is reportedly getting a deluxe Record Store Day reissue. The listing has it as a 2xLP set, with bonus tracks and packaged in a die-cut gatefold jacket. The previous edition was a 180-gram white vinyl set, with the bonus track “The Crystal Ballroom 12″ on the D-side. So we’ll have to see what’s different here.

Record Store Day is being held on April 18th. You can see our entire list, here.

"Age" of Innocence?

it's being reported as "Songs of Innocence" on other sites.  It's listed as "Age of Innocence" on the official Record Store Day list.

I'm told that it will be priced at $39.99  That it will be numbered on the jacket.  And that the album is featured on disc one and the bonus material from the deluxe CD will be featured on disc two.  The whole thing will be in a plain-white promo-style sleeve.

Sounds like disc one will be a repeat of the promo vinyl that was done for the Grammy eligibility (wonder if there will be any difference?  sounds like they are going for the same feel), and this will add a second disc of bonus material from the deluxe album.

I've asked about artwork and for further information.  Will update here as I find out more.

This vinyl is being released on the lists on other countries Record Store Day lists.  Specifically I've found it on the German, Dutch and UK sites.  So it won't be a North American only release.  The Record Store Day USA site lists 6000 copies.  When "Ordinary Love" came out there were 10,000 copies total and 6500 went to the USA, so I fully expect distribution of this one to be similar.  And with no new tracks on it, and it being an album that was given away for free already, I'm hoping the interest is low and it's not too difficult for users to get.

That being said if anyone spots any retailers offering up a presale feel free to share.  I'm never happy until I have a copy in hand.  :)

I'm wondering just how similar disc one will be to the 300 copy Grammy issued vinyl from September?  Maybe there was a bigger print run done all along waiting for RSD?

I might be forgetting something, but won't this be the first physical release of Invisible in North America?

Yes, I think it is. I was always holding out for an Invisible 10" but this is good too. SOLD!

It's on the Songs of Innocence deluxe CD as a hidden track. Or maybe you just meant vinyl?

Oh right, I forgot it was a hidden track when I searched for it in my iTunes library. The way they split up the tracks on that bonus disc is totally ridiculous.

Yup.  It's there.  "Invisible" is on the deluxe disc after "Sleep Like a Baby" ends.

There is NO new material on the RSD vinyl according to the information circulated to retailers.  It is the deluxe version of "Songs of Innocence" split across two vinyl.  I was hoping for something more.  Maybe there will be a digital insert for something extra.  But the physical release itself will just be what we already have on CD if you bought the deluxe version.

Finally, one of these godforsaken vinyl-only releases with nothing exclusive on it for me to care about or suffer without.

I'm still planning to hit my local record shop that morning, but with no anxiety.

This release is pretty great. Allows us fans who don't want to drop a G to get access to it. It also makes the album more spread out with different packaging and multiple cover art. Luckily RSD is on a Saturday so no fans are going to miss out because of employment. I also have my eye on the Willie Nelson release which is an incredible album.

No need to drop a thousand dollars on the original 12" either.  Only the initial few items went for that price.  Over the months since, a couple of sellers on ebay have flooded ebay with copies and it's possible to get them for under $250 now.

Just to be clear - they are different items though.  This release may look the same as the Grammy one - but it will contain a second record, and the sleeve will be numbered.  Also there's some confusion - the UK RSD site is listing it as a 10-inch vinyl - so maybe there might be other differences.

I prefer the Black Friday event because it is easier to get into my store and get something - although it means taking off from work.  Record Store day is such a big event, and is on a Saturday so the lines are long and they start early.  Makes it difficult to get some items.  At least I know with Black Friday if I take the day off or arrange to go in a bit late, I can usually get there when the store opens and have a pretty good chance.  Last time I went looking for something on RSD there were about 140 people lined up in front of me and I just didn't stand a chance...

The cover is now on our front page:
http://www.u2wanderer.org/
And I also posted it on twitter.  And I'll try to attach it here.

It is "Songs of Innocence" - it is the deluxe version of the album spread across two black vinyl.  It will look like the Apple release / Grammy Nomination release, but will feature a new label on the vinyl updated with the date of RSD, and also carrying the RSD label.  2x12-Inch.  Black Vinyl.  Limited to 6000 copies in the US.  Will be made available worldwide for RSD.

UPC of this item:
UPC: 602547244796

This is probably incorrect and it looks like the ordering information for the North American market included the UPC: 602547244802

Not sure where the other came from, except it was sent to me from a UK source, so maybe it is identified differently over there?

Just received notice that my store could not fulfill my reservation. They only have received 3 copies of it in this record store in Belgium.
If someone of you can point me to a reasonable priced 2LP, that would be nice.

Wait about a week and the prices on eBay should come way down.

RSD stores really shouldn't be taking reservations, anyway.

There were four copies in my city of 500,000. I bit the bullet and got a copy on Ebay for 60.00 US. What are you gonna do?

Same here. There is only one RSD shop in Tacoma and they didn't get any. Got one on eBay for $65.

I did get a copy of Elvis's first recording from Third Man. I think that one may end up being the bigger collector's item.

Someone ahead of me in line got the last copy of this at my local indie, but you know what? I wasn't even sad. My only purchase for RSD ended up being the a-ha 7" picture disc. Good times.

Just a note - we're keeping a map on the front page where copies have been purchased and what numbers they are thanks to Harry K.  So far no numbers over 5000 have appeared.  And the distribution seems pretty random around the world for numbers.

On eBay someone sold two #0144 copies... so it's possible #0145 (or #0143) doesn't exist... or 5001 copies exist...

Did he have two different 0144s or did he just reuse photos of it I wonder?
