Very interesting indeed. Seems like we would have heard something by now if they were going to release the DVD this month, and I think they are unlikely to release it just in Japan. I was expecting a holiday season release this year.

Surely this must be the year that U2 releases its first new/proper (R&H doesn't count) Blu-Ray?

It seems they have released a DVD every Christmas season since 2001 to 2009 including remasters, Album Bonus DVDs and concert videos. I just can't see them holding onto this. But yet, the Vertigo tour had three official concert vids so go figure.

seems that u2tour.de has some info that they originally looked at a spring release, but it's been pushed back since then. these dates are likely a result of the earlier possible release that's now been moved...

Since you are speaking of this I bought Blu Ray software (POWER DVD, Cyberlink) in the last two months so I finally got to watch R&H which I bought off of discogs a few years back. I watched it and the increased audio fidelity allowed me to hear a really, really bad edit in Angel of Harlem. I have to dig it up to point it out exactly.
