Hey, long time user of the site but just became a member
Had a few questions that I hope someone could help me with.
Does anyone have any news on a possible release of POPMART LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY on DVD? If it has already been released on DVD, how would I go about buying a copy online, because I can't find it in stores.
Also, does anyone know where I could find a copy of THE BEST OF 1980-1990 DVD online? I'd like a copy of the original A-Sides album, as well as the B-Sides album but also the DVD that was released of this collection. I can't find the B-Sides or the DVD in stores here in Australia.
The same applies with THE BEST OF 1990-2000. I'd like the A-Sides album as well as the B-Sides but also the double disc DVD. I can only find the single disc DVD here.
Any help with these questions is greatly appreciated

This DVD comes with one disc only. The empty space in the cover is for the History Mix DVD which is shipped with the special edition of the Best of 1990-2000 CD (it has 2 CDs & 1 DVD).

OK, I see. And is there any way I can get the special ed. of the Best Of and the bonus disc shipped to Aus? Amazon wont ship here. I'm this close to flying across the world to get the damn thing...

In order to ask my question, I had to dig up this topic (and avoid unnecessarily starting a new topic). My question is about the Limited Edition Bonus DVD that came with
the U2 compilation album The Best Of 1990-2000 (2 CDs and 1 DVD).
The Limited Edition Bonus DVD has the video Beautiful Day [Èze version] with a track time of 4:04
I researched the u2songs.com discography, but I was unable to confirm that the music in the video Beautiful Day [Èze version] is the same music as
Beautiful Day from the All That You Can't Leave Behind album. Is it?

PopMart on DVD appears to be readily available online on Amazon. As for 1980-1990, that was never released on DVD unfortunately. It was released on VHS and Video CD I believe. I do have the video CD, which although it is a digital format, it's not very good quality. It looks like it was also released on laserdisc, at least in Europe - I see one going for $300 on Amazon. Not seeing much format info. on this on U2songs. Maybe Aaron has yet to add that... It also has a video for One Tree Hill from Tempe 12/20/1987 (Rattle and Hum outtake).

I actually think its time for another video retrospective. I know DVD's don't sell well anymore but it would be nice to be able to compile video events from 2002 onwards.
The Best of 90-00 was an impressive product.

The Best of 90-00 was an impressive product.
The 360 release included the videos for "Boots", "Magnificent" and "Crazy". The I+E release included the videos for the SOE songs. 18Videos included "Vertigo", "Sometimes", "Walk On" and "Elevation".
I'd almost prefer they went back and gave us a good digital version of the 1980s videos instead...

Holy cow you're right! The clip hosted on U2Songs is the album version, but that other one is... something different. No guitar sounds on the intro, just piano, and some mumbling from Bono. Wow. Plus the video clips are different. Nice find!

Yep. I have a nice rip direct from the VHS version of The Unforgettable Fire Collection (courtesy of Scarlet) and it's the 'mumbling' version. I've always thought Bono was saying something like "sometimes we go" in a little sing song voice, but only the shadow knows for sure.

Having a snow day off here at the old folks home, I decided to dig out a few pairs of headphones and listen to various TUF versions I have on file. Thanks to MDuchek for noticing this variation.
The first 3 are the normal album versions.

There are a zillion other TUF album versions in other compilations. I have various cassette, vinyl, and CD rips but not infinite time to describe these. The ones I listened to are all similar. Thankfully it's one of of favorite U2 tracks and I'm used to listening a million times in a row to the same song.
Despite playing these at ear bleed level I could not hear that Bono phrase at the start of the song, “Oh shit, I'm sorry,” which is in the lyrics database. Can anyone else?

Now these 2 have the 'mumbling' version. Like MDuchek pointed out, there are other musical differences at the beginning. The Video Sampler VHS is from 1987. I was hoping it might be more revealing for that Bono mumble at the start. Maybe , “sometimes we know”

By plan or by chance, many of the 'lost' 80's videos that didn't show up on the Best Of 80's VHS comp were eventually released in remastered format on the AB Super Deluxe amongst others. ASOH, Bad and Pride 2 showed up on DVD in the extras of Go Home. I believe more showed up on the 20th anniversary of JT.
Angel of Harlem, Sunday Bloody Sunday (Live at Red Rocks) and A Celebration are included in this set for the AB DLX 20.
I think the only rational thing to do is to create an 80's video remaster video project/list for completests and format warriors.

The "mumbling version" is the version found on the following releases:
* The Best of 1980 - 1990
* The Unforgettable Fire Collection (VHS)
* The 25th Anniversary box of The Unforgettable Fire
* The Slane Castle DVD
It's the video we should have linked on the site. The mumbling version was also the one sent out for promotion, to music channels and the like. Slaneman also confirmed its on the Video Sampler promo above. It's difficult to find videos from that era on Youtube that aren't regularly pulled down by Universal, so finding the one that was linked on the site I stopped looking and didn't recognize the differences.
The one we did link? It's the album version of the song. And those 'alternate scenes' at the start? They are all in the mumble video as well. Just taken out of order and reedited. That video has been edited to add in the subtitles, and there's some funky transitions between scenes, and some of the scenes repeat. I'm pretty sure the version we linked was a fan made edit. That being said, there's no other copy of this one that I can find, other than the one Mike shared which is filmed at a strange angle for some reason and doesn't give a good viewing experience. Anyone out there able to spot a full version on a video sharing service that we could embed a video from?
I've replaced the video on the site with a "Video Not Available" notice rather than linking to something that was likely fan made.

Speaking of mumbles, does 'five feet to the moon' ring a bell for anyone? It seems to be jogged in my memory it could be from this song or another.
It's easy to forget how much of an artistic leap this video was when it came out.

Re-evaluating all of this has made me fall in love with the "mumbling version." I love how it starts cold with the piano rather than the guitar. It's a totally different intro for the song. Does anyone have a good rip of this audio from the UF anniversary DVD? I want to put this version (the audio) in my iTunes library!

In summary, 7 titles are not available commercially but maybe online streaming. One of those videos is WLCTT from R&H.
3 titles haven't been released on DVD and these include IWF, AIWIY and WLCTT.
You would need to buy videos from 7 sources before you were a complete owner of all 80s videos not withstanding the 7 tracks that are N/A on physical form.

Gloria, Two Hearts, and Desire (Hollywood Remix) were briefly available to purchase on iTunes in the US back in 2007. Unfortunately when everything was still copy protected.
ETA: It looks like the Desire video is back, now available without copy protection.

on iTunes UK there is a video called "FEZ" that runs for over 4 minutes. It's basically footage from the Riad in said city.
