Fake.

Island was purchased by Polygram in 1989, then became part of Universal Music Group in 1998.

Before we cry "fake", though, isn't it possible this promo was related to last year's remastered re-release of THE JOSHUA TREE?

Both the disc and the rear sleeve clearly have 1987 copyright notices printed on them.  Why would they release a promo and date it retroactively?  It's a fake.

Incidentally, U2 wasn't releasing promos on CD in 1987.

I stand corrected.  Streets was released on a promo CD in 1987.  I still think this Exit promo is a fake, though.

::: I think that a more celebrating song from the JT20th ann would be better as a promo than 'Exit' that's about suicide.  ::)

Fake!

Fake!

But, to be fair, there's not a whole lot of celebrating going on in THE JOSHUA TREE...
