Hi, this is my first post...apologies if this question is obvious to most! ...but does anyone know what album the live version of Whiskey in the Jar is on?  many thanks

You cannot find Whiskey in the Jar on any officially released live album.  U2 has sung the song in one form or another (not sure if they've ever done a complete rendition, and all the recordings that I've heard have been shortened karaoke versions) 11 times live in concert; you can see the list of shows here:

Many thanks - real shame.  I think it was the 1986 Dublin RDS live show encore version that I heard...which sounded great... albeit the crowd doing the singing. Back to the Thin Lizzy version I guess.  Thanks again.
