The name of the tour seems to suggest that Songs of Experience will be out sooner rather than later. I hope!

So who is going where? Who bought tickets? Who's still trying to buy? How's everyone feeling about this one?
-
I had to fight with every ounce of strength not to buy some tickets as I'm in Australia. I'm sure they'll make it down at some stage but boy I wish I could go to LA or the UK to catch a show. Maybe my pre sale code will still be valid for any dates announced in OZ, in addition to the one they will hopefully send when a rest of the world tour is announced.
-
I bought GA tickets for both Chicago shows. And I am planning to buy more for possible extra gigs in Chicago.
I will not be able to travel further than that because of work schedule -- and a wife that wants to have a baby in late 2015...
-
i'm looking at Vancouver, Boston and Montreal. Two of those I can drive, cutting costs way down...
-
Do you know if they add extra gigs during the normal sale? Or would they announce extra gigs beforehand and then start presales and sales all over again? From what I remember, Vertigo Leg 1 had shows added instantly...
-
Vertigo and Elevation had extra shows added instantly with no warning before they went on sale.
During 360 most of the extra shows were announced in advance and a presale was held for them.
So who knows how it will go this time.
-
so far today though no sign of any of the extras i'm expecting - such as london. and tickets have been on sale for a while
-
I got my pair of floor tickets for Montreal's first night in the presale without a problem. Now I'm hoping to get some for the second night, and maybe some for other nights yet to be announced.
EDIT: Montreal night 2 was successful - 4 on the floor.
-
So who is going where? Who bought tickets? Who's still trying to buy? How's everyone feeling about this one?
1 GA for Vancouver, May 14 - Hope to get the ticket today - Got it!
1 Seat for Vancouver, May 15
2 GAs for Toronto, July 6
1 Seat for Toronto, July 7
Strongly considered Montreal as I've seen them for Elevation (3), Vertigo (1) and 360 (1) previously, but that will have to wait until 2016 (I hope).
Cheers,
u2expert
-
For you Northern Hemispherers, new dates announced.
-
i'm in so far for 2 nights in Vancouver, 2 nights in Montreal (first two) and hopefully 4 in Boston if ticket sales go well.
-
Yes! 2 more floors for both Montreal shows #3 and #4.
So, so, so easy this time.
-
I also got another GA for Chicago 4 and a seat for Chicago 3 (Still on the lookout for a GA, though).
But I can't help thinking everything's been far too easy. Is the demand still there? Is there any US/Canada show that is actually sold out? There are still tickets even for the opening night! I don't know if there's even a point in adding more shows. Bizarre.
I wasn't able to go to the US during 360º (had to wait until 2011 to see them in South America) but I remember the chaos on Vertigo Leg 1 ticket sales. This is sooo different. I am grateful for being able to score (almost) all the tickets I want, but on the other hand it leaves me worried about a future Stadium Tour.
-
I just (9:30 PM) went back to the Montreal sale site or nights 3 & 4. Floor tickets are still available for both shows! It's strange given that 360 sold out two consecutive nights.
-
Hopefully Bono will be ready for the start of the tour. That was one savage bicycle accident and I found it hard to even glance at the doctor's list of his injuries. If you see his A-Z letter in U2.com, it doesn't sound good at all. Best wishes to Bono. They say he may never play guitar again. I know that's a part of his comfort zone on stage and he enjoys that. Let's hope he can beat the odds. I don't see him feeling like himself performing for a while. Certainly takes the wind out of the tour buildup. Realistically, they should bump the tour start back a couple months.
-
i'm pretty sure they know how his progress is going and what the chances are he'll be ready by May 14th. They likely wouldn't have scheduled the tour at all if they didn't feel he'd be ready. Nice to see that he's taking his time and getting some rest and letting things heal.
-
New city announced: DENVER on June 6th. This one will sell out quickly.
EDIT: The next show isn't until Montreal on June 12th. So I'm guessing they may add a June 7 and/or June 8 show. If not, Denver will be the only single-stop city on the tour.

Some fascinating information about the construction of the tour and how a show will play out visually and aurally. Speakers on the ceiling pointing down? Excited for that sound. And a stage that splits the venue down the middle. Wow. And of course, Songs of Experience works in progress: "Red Flag Day,” “Civilization” and “Instrument Flying."

You beat me to it! That's a great article. Bono's blonde hair... wow.
-
Right? At least you can count on Bono having a different look for each and every tour they've done.

I guess we can count on Invisible being in the set. And I hope that's exactly how Cedarwood Road sounds live. That haunting sound made it even better.
-
Anyone else out there doing the openers? :)
-
Just sent you an email. ;D
-
Just arrived in Vancouver. Just got email from TicketMaster regarding GA - "Please note, General Admission ticket holders will be able to begin lining up at 3:00 PM on the day of the show."
I have my doubts.
Cheers,

Now I got to find some fans! Going to the @U2 party later.

somehow the lens didn't crack :o
C'mon, let's hear about it...
-
I just read that Bullet The Blue Sky rap and two things are really striking. First, It is a testament to their musical ability that they can carry that crescendo for that amount of time. It doesn't stop, most artists play a crescendo about 1/8 of that time and then get distracted. They were all together in this one. No one got off of the musical train.
Saxaphone/Cellphone is also just WOW!

Who are these people?
That's Harry K, and Brad H, with me in the middle. Three of the current staff members of U2wanderer.org. We got together and saw a show in Vancouver, and did breakfast the following morning. :)
-
So my take on the shows?
1st night I got into line at about 2:30 and we were probably in the first 300 people through the door. We went towards the front (the square stage) and grabbed the inside of the rail separating redzone from the regular GA. Both of these areas come to a point, and that isn't a great set up, as time passes, and the area gets more crowded, all the weight behind packs into one person at the front of these sections. A number of people had to be removed for first aid treatment. It was too hot, and too packed.
It's also a great place to see the band up close for the first eight songs, and to photograph Adam and Larry throughout. But disappointing if you want some Bono time. Most of the show it felt like we could not even see him.
Second night we decided to hang back in the area towards the round stage, but along the edges of the arena. Such a better experience. Room to move, room to dance, room to celebrate. And you could walk around and get close enough to get some good photos from time to time. We were also near the VIP section, so got to say hi to Gavin Friday behind us, and when Bono did "Every Breaking Wave" I had Ali standing beside me. SHe was loving it. Beaming with a huge smile throughout. That made things that much more special.
The shows themselves were great, but I'll try to keep things relatively spoiler free. I really enjoyed the mix of songs.
I did find the sound is really loud this tour. Clear. But very loud. I just bought myself a new set of earplugs to wear for the next few shows I'm doing.
After 10 plus years of working together I finally got to meet Brad at the second show. And Harry and I have been trying to meet up since the Vertigo tour as well. They've done a remarkable amount of work to keep the site interesting, fresh, and updated at times I might not have the interest or time. Now if we can just figure out how to get all the other staff to the same show we'd be doing great. :) Thanks for everything guys...

Do Gavin and Ali recognize who you are, Aaron?
I'm happy this meet-up finally worked for you . . . . . . . happy that bad weather or a flight issue or a concert ticket issue did not interrupt your schedule. I'm just curious, Aaron . . . . . what was your route flying to the west coast? What stops, if any, did you make and how long is a trip like that if no delays occur?
-
I've said hello to Gavin before, on a couple of occasions, so yes I'm sure he knew who I was, and that's why I said hello this time... Ali has no reason to recognize me. And I didn't intrude into her space. She was clearly enjoying herself.
I flew Halifax > Toronto > Vancouver. It's about 1.5hr to Toronto, and just over 4 from there to Vancouver.
-
O wow, RIP Dennis Sheehan. This has been a rough, rough tour so far. :'(
-
Wow, wish I could have been there for this show. What an emotional night. It sounds like "40" might become the new show closer? Goodbye Dennis.

-
Not sure if it'll become the closer or not. They seem to hold it in reserve for special nights these days. I know I'd love to see it return. It's the song that first hooked me, when I heard it live on UABRS...
-
I am hooked too. Just check my username.
-
And a second appearance now. I'm hopeful I'll get to see "40" in Montreal.

So we know there's an iNNOCENCE+eXPERIENCE Tour Special coming to HBO on Nov. 14. But if these sites (and others that list upcoming Netflix titles) are to be believed, the special will also debut on Netflix US the same day. Can that be right?

It's probably silly to even post this, but needless to say the show and HBO special are canceled in light of the attacks. God bless Paris.

Here's a great interview with Bono about the rescheduled Paris shows. Love this quote: "ISIS and these kinds of extremists are a death cult. We’re a life cult. Rock ’n’ roll is a life force, and it’s joy as an act of defiance. That’s what U2 is. That’s at the very heart of our band." Preach it.
