on the news cd and dvd releases there is also another song with u2 involved. it is "the auld triangle" performed by "entire cast" with u2 too... so we will have 2 songs for the first time on audio, while the dvd will replace the old rte vhs released at the time...

I ordered both the CD and the DVD and they've been dispatched. Should have them in a week or so.
-
The DVD won't work in U.S. NTSC players, so I'm screwed there but I'm buying the CD on Wednesday, when I get paid. Thanks for the info on the 2nd U2-related track...

It should play fine on any computer with a DVD drive.
-
I am in the pal zone but I have several ntsc dvds and I never had problems with my standalone player... I think the new players can read every format so I am sure you can play pal dvds...

True, but I don't want to be trapped to a PC/laptop for a title where audio is so important. As long as I have the audio on CD, that'll do.

I'm no fool about this kind of stuff; I assure you I've done the research and my Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player and my Blu-ray capable Playstation 3 both are NTSC only. Thanks for the hopeful thoughts, nonetheless...

Hey, thanks for the scan. Saves me the trouble of doing it myself.
I just got my CD and DVD yesterday. I was hoping that the sound quality would be a little better, but it sounds like there's some distortion in the original recording. Not much to be done about that, I suppose.
-
Well I thought I'd ordered the cd, but I received the DVD. ???
At least I got to see "The Auld Triangle" for the first time.
Does anyone else think Bono looked somewhat subdued for this show?
Was he feeling poorly? A bit intimidated by all those venerable musicians sitting to his left watching?
-
the audio is also in mono, this is how rte taped and broadcasted it... anyway it is better than the one from the old official vhs...

I bet it's that very thing...U2 was still a few days away from owning the world at that point...
-
Exactly! There was that of course. ;D
