Miracle Drug - Chicago DVD
« on: March 13, 2008, 05:05:14 PM »
:-* Hi, I'm new here. Congratulations for the info in this site. I would like to know what Bono is singing around the time 2:18 minutes of this video (live version from Chicago DVD). I think a little girl called Jeena was at stage, during that show:

This is one of the more intriguing iffy parts in the DVD.

Best I could come up with was "Imagine Bob, with you now", which would be cool if Bono were whispering to his father at that point in the song. It's one thing I would ask him if I ever met him in a bar.  ;D

Great song. Here's the full version--

Miracle Drug
Vertigo 2005//Live From Chicago

[Bono=Normal; Edge=Italics “beneath the noise” ]

I fell in love in Chicago. I fell in love, in a hotel room in Chicago…listening to Miles Davis…A Kind of Blue…I didn’t understand jazz, didn’t understand Mile Davis or how his music could make me feel, until… I was sitting in this hotel room looking out the window, at this city,  an Irish boy 24 yrs old…and just looking around Chicago I kinda understood Miles Davis somehow,  understood this music… and then we fell in love with Chicago. We started out in…in clubs, I can’t even remember the name of the club but I remember walking out on tables, kissing people’s girlfriends and drinking their wine, a microphone in my hand. There was a hundred people there but we felt Chicago had fallen in love with us. You don’t really look back that much in our music we don’t look at the past. The best bits of the past we try to bring with us. There are songs, songs like Pride, In the Name of Love, songs like Sunday, Bloody Sunday, songs like Where The Streets Have No Name. They’re the best bits of the past and we’ll take them with us. Cause we’re interested and we’re excited and we have faith in the future. That’s where we’re headed. So for a city of the future, this is our music. This is our…the thing that we’re…strung out on. This is our drug. Miracle Drug.

I wanna to trip inside your head
Spend the day there
Hear the things you haven’t said
And see what you might see

I wanna hear you when you call
Do you feel anything at all?
Wanna see your thoughts take shape
And walk right out

Cause freedom has a scent
Like the top of a new born baby’s head

The songs are in your eyes
I see them when you smile
I’ve had enough, I’m not giving up
On a miracle drug

Of science and the human heart
There is no limit
There is no failure here sweetheart
Just when you quit

I am you and you are mine
Love makes nonsense of space
And time will disappear
Love and logic keep us clear
Reason is on our side
Love

The songs are in your eyes
I see them when you smile
I’ve had enough of romantic love
Oh I’d give it up, yeah, I’d give it up
For a miracle, a miracle drug
(Imagine Bob…with you now?)

Yeah…yeah / Yeah…Oh
Yeah…yeah / Yeah…yeah…oh
Yeah…yeah / Oh… Oh
Ah

Beneath the noise
Below the din
I hear your voice
It’s whispering
In science and in medicine
I was a stranger
You took me in

The songs are in your eyes
I see them when you smile
I’ve had enough of romantic love
Yeah, I’d give it up, yeah, I’d give it up
For a miracle, a miracle drug
Miracle, a miracle drug

Bono's speech at the beginning is from the 5-9 show. The whispers are from the 5-10 show.
